At our drug detox center, we aim to provide world-class care for those struggling with opioid use. We understand that the decision to seek treatment can be a difficult one, and we want to make the process as simple and straightforward as possible. That’s why, when you call our office, one of our specialists will answer all of your questions and provide information on available drug detox programs.
If you decide you would like to proceed with a confidential consultation with our medical director, Dr. Michael H. Lowenstein, we will send you an intake questionnaire that can be completed by phone or email. Remember, at this point, there is no commitment from you to us or from us to you. The intake allows you to have a consultation with the top rapid detoxification expert in the country, to determine which treatment plan is best for your health goals.
Once an admission date is set, the office will help you with arrival logistics. We can arrange vehicle transportation to the hospital (within 40 miles) for those who live in the area. If the patient is not based in or near Southern California, they can fly to Los Angeles Airport (LAX) or John Wayne Airport (SNA). A representative will be waiting to greet you at the airport upon arrival.
Patients who come to our facility are first admitted to a private room in an accredited hospital. Here, they undergo an extensive medical evaluation that helps us determine the best course of treatment. This evaluation includes a cardiac assessment, pre-medication, and overall stabilization. We also give them medication to prevent withdrawal symptoms.
Every patient is different, and each treatment plan is individualized to meet the patient’s unique needs. Patients are usually in the hospital for 2 to 3 days. If rapid detox is the chosen procedure, on the second day, the patient is transferred to a private room in the ICU. Medically induced withdrawal is performed while the patient sleeps under sedation and is closely monitored by our medical director and his team. The process significantly speeds the production of endorphins and nervous system recovery.
In most cases, patients are able to go to our drug rehab center on the third day of detox. Rapid detox patients may choose to have the Vivitrol shot before discharge, where others prefer the oral form of Naltrexone to eliminate physical cravings.
After an individual goes through detox, it is essential that they receive professional inpatient care for a few days. This will help them successfully navigate the physical and emotional adjustment and recovery phase. This care includes support for regulating sleep patterns, hypersensitivity, and gastrointestinal function. Long-term opioid intake raises hormonal activity, which plays a primary role in stress. After detox, people are more vulnerable to anxiety-related issues, leading to cravings and relapse, and loved ones do not have the training to assist.
