Norco Precautions

Table of Contents

Narcotic pain relievers such as Norco can be of benefit for people suffering from moderate to severe pain. However, there are strong precautions and warnings that patients must adhere to in order to ensure safe use. Norco is a prescription medication that combines hydrocodone, a narcotic painkiller, with acetaminophen, which is a non-narcotic pain reliever. Acetaminophen is popular in many over-the-counter drugs and can be lethal in high doses, causing liver damage. Doctors advise that people taking Norco don’t take additional medications containing this drug. Acetaminophen can be dangerous for people who have cirrhosis of the liver, those who have suffered alcoholism and those who consume three or more alcoholic drinks daily.

Signs Norco Use May Become Problematic for Patients

An allergic reaction is a potential problem when taking any medication. Knowing the signs ahead of time can guard against a serious reaction. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to Norco can include rash, itching, hives, dizziness, trouble breathing and swelling. Elderly and debilitated patients who may be more sensitive to Norco’s effects should take it with caution. For instance, these effects can include sedation and respiratory depression. Norco slows down the central nervous system, therefore it should not be combined with other substances that have this effect, including alcohol, other opiates, benzodiazepines and sleeping medications.
Overdose can also occur if patients take too much Norco or if a patient who is not already tolerant to opiates takes too high of a dose. Regular use of Norco can cause a tolerance. This means the drug’s effects diminish over time and patients need increasingly higher doses to achieve the same effect. The most important thing to know about the medication and other opiate painkillers is that they can be habit-forming. Opiate addiction is serious and results in potentially life-threatening withdrawal symptoms without proper treatment.

Thorough Opiate Detox Can Eliminate Norco Addiction Safely

Waismann Method’s renowned Norco detox is safe, efficient and effective. Moreover, our medical opiate detox is known for being humane and discreet. We provide the highest quality care without using opiate replacements such as Suboxone and methadone, which can also be habit-forming. At the Waismann Method opiate detox, staff admits patients into a full-service hospital for 2 to 4 days. We begin with a comprehensive evaluation to thoroughly check for any possible underlying medical issues.
With rapid opiate detox, we use intravenous medications to remove the opiates from patients’ opiate receptors. Significantly, our quadruple board-certified physician completes the procedure in less than two hours with the patient fully sedated during the process. The procedure accelerates the withdrawal process and patients awaken without the conscious awareness this phase has passed. We allow patients to essentially skip this painful and degrading phase which gives them the drive to move forward quickly with recovery. After detoxification, staff transfer patients to our exclusive recovery center, Domus Retreat transitional facility for continued care and support. While there, guests receive around-the-clock care and additional services to support their recovery.
