Lortab Abuse

Table of Contents

Abusing prescription medications has become a growing national problem, especially when it comes to opiates which can be highly addicting. Lortab is the brand name for the combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen and is often used for the management of pain. This combination is also marketed under the name Vicodin. Hydrocodone is an opioid and has become a popular drug of abuse. Prolonged use of Lortab can lead to problems including the development of a tolerance, dependence and withdrawal symptoms if it’s misused. Lortab abuse can also lead to an overdose which can be fatal. Abuse of Lortab or other opiates can be defined as any behavior that contradicts the products’ labels that give specific directions on use and warnings. Many of the patients in our Waismann Method program seek us out for our renowned rapid opiate detox. With us, they never have to worry about being made to feel guilty for their dependence and abuse history. Our main goal is to get them on the road to recovery in a safe, confidential and timely manner.

What to Look For if You Suspect Someone is Abusing Lortab

Don’t let prescription drug abuse ruin your life. If you think you or someone you know may have a problem with Lortab abuse, there are specific signs to watch for. The drug can be easily diverted and sold on the black market. Common actions among abusers can include doctor-shopping to secure more than one supply, fake call-ins for refills and falsification of prescriptions. Abuse can include overuse, tampering with the medication or combining it with other substances to heighten the effects. Lortab is a central nervous system depressant. Combining it with other medications that have the same effect can be lethal. These can include alcohol, sedatives, tranquilizers and other opiates. A preoccupation with consuming or obtaining Lortab can be an indication that physical and/or psychological dependence has developed. Any use of Lortab that is outside its prescribed therapeutic use can constitute abuse.

Waismann Method Offers Renowned, Opiate-Free Addiction Treatment

We know our patients didn’t set out to become addicted to Lortab. Oftentimes, it happens after regular, prescribed use leads to tolerance. Once the regular dose is no longer effective at treating pain, patients may escalate their use or turn to other methods of abuse. Lortab addiction is serious and requires professional medical detox. The Waismann Method of rapid detox is performed in a hospital under supervision of medical professionals. Our procedure takes less than two hours and uses medication to cleanse Lortab from patients’ opiate receptors. They sleep under light sedation during the procedure and while the withdrawal phase plays out. They awake opiate-free without awareness of withdrawal symptoms that occurred. We don’t use opiate replacements such as methadone or Suboxone in our treatment. The entire hospital stay is a few days, getting patients back on their feet in much less time than traditional drug treatment programs.
