According to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and reported by Bloomberg, the death rate of overdoses from prescription drugs in Florida have more than doubled in the past ten years. Dr. Michael Lowenstein, who specializes in the Waismann Method, an advanced procedure for rapid opiate detoxification, indicates that according to surveys conducted of admitted patients, the fear of symptoms of withdrawal is a common cause of overdose, as patients continue to increase drug intake to avoid pain and distress.
“One of the greatest worries associated with recovery is the withdrawal process, which can cause a high degree of unbearable discomfort,” said Dr. Lowenstein. “People suffering from dependencies want to avoid that experience at all cost, so they’ll defer seeking treatment and continue to increase consumption of the addictive substances in order to feel ‘normal.’ In addition, they often try to compensate for the feelings of withdrawal by taking too much, which can result in overdose. By making the detoxification process humane and comfortable, many people will conquer their fears of seeking treatment for dependency.”
According to CDC’s report, the prescription drug with the greatest increase in overdose deaths was oxycodone, followed by alprazolam and methadone. The report analyzed 34 types of drugs frequently abused and included data from 2003 to 2009. Researchers found a 61 percent increase in the annual number of deaths due to drug overdose in Florida.
A recent Waismann Method survey showed that the majority of those facing treatment for opiates listed “fear of withdrawals” as the biggest challenge in overcoming their addictions. The Waismann Method is a pioneering medical opiate detoxification procedure that is safe, humane and effective. The treatment is designed to meet patients’ medical, psychological, and social needs in order to reach success.
Performed in a hospital intensive care unit, the Waismann Method involves careful administration of medications to reverse the physiological dependence on opiates while the symptoms of withdrawal are addressed. Following medical treatment, patients are taken to Domus Retreat for an assessment to determine any underlying causes of dependency, and a customized aftercare plan is assigned to ensure a healthy and effective transition to life without opiates. Patients of the Waismann Method achieve an extraordinary high success rate because they no longer fight the constant physical cravings for opiates that have led them to relapse in the past.

About The Waismann Method
Performed in a hospital intensive care unit, the Waismann Method involves cleansing receptors in a patient’s brain of the narcotics while the patient is under deep sedation, reversing the chemical imbalance. During the procedure, the patient will experience minimal conscious withdrawal, and will be able to return home within days. Seventy-five percent of the prescription drug dependent patients who are treated with the Waismann Method remain drug free after one year. Please visit https://www.opiates.com for more information.
