Dilaudid Abuse

Table of Contents

The abuse of prescription drugs can lead to a life of unintended consequences. Serious health and legal problems could develop along with physical and psychological dependency. Dilaudid, an analgesic narcotic, contains hydromorphone, a potent Schedule II Controlled Substance in the U.S. This means it has a high potential for abuse and respiratory depression. These respiratory effects can be heightened when Dilaudid is used in combination with other central nervous system depressants such as alcohol, sedative-hypnotics and other opioids. Abuse and misuse could be considered any behavior that goes against the drug’s label and directions. This could include taking more than what’s prescribed, taking it more often than what’s recommended, combining it with other substances to increase its effects or tampering with the medication.

Dilaudid Abuse – Could You or Someone You Know Be Abusing Dilaudid?

The Waismann Method has been successfully and safely treating opioid dependence for over a decade. The majority of our clients become addicted to Dilaudid and medications including OxyContin and Percocet through no fault of their own. Oftentimes, it begins with a legitimate prescription from a doctor for pain relief. With regular use, the body can become used to the drug, building up a tolerance so that the prescribed dosage no longer produces the desired effect, be it pain relief or euphoria. This can lead patients to escalate their use by increasing their dose. This is dangerous, not only because it can lead to dependence, but also because abuse can lead to a fatal overdose. Mixing Dilaudid with other substances to increase the “high” or euphoric feelings can be dangerous, even fatal. Patients who have suffered prior addictions should avoid taking Dilaudid and other opiates because the risk for addiction is higher. Other signs of abuse and addiction include a mental preoccupation with obtaining and consuming the drug. Others may falsify prescriptions or shop around for different doctors to secure more than one supply.

Opiate-Free Rapid Detox Can Rid You of Dilaudid Addiction

Dilaudid abuse can lead to addiction, oftentimes without much warning. If you feel powerless over your escalating use of Dilaudid or other narcotics, it’s time to consider professional detox. The Waismann Method of rapid detox offers rapid Dilaudid detox using a renowned procedure that’s performed in the safety of a hospital while patients sleep lightly under sedation. Intravenous medication is used to cleanse the Dilaudid from patients’ opiate receptors. This accelerates withdrawal symptoms which occur while the patients are sedated. They awake opiate-free without awareness of withdrawal symptoms that occurred. We don’t use opiate replacements such as Suboxone or methadone to wean patients and the entire hospital stay is a few days, getting you back on your feet in much less time than traditional drug treatment programs. Domus Retreat, our transitional living facility, is also available for those who wish to continue their recovery in a safe, confidential and serene atmosphere. Together, the humane programs offered by Waismann Method and Domus Retreat can help restore your life and health.
