People who take Zydone for therapeutic reasons can usually do so safely and with good results. Zydone is an opiate analgesic containing hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Hydrocodone is an opiate (narcotic) medication that has the potential to be habit forming, so there are those patients who do develop a dependency with long-term use.

Other Treatment Options for Zydone Dependene

Detox is the process the body goes through when a substance-dependent person stops taking the drug in question. With opiates, this process can become physically painful and mentally draining if professional help is not sought.

Some facilities treat opiate dependence by administering other opiates. This is known as opiate replacement therapy and is typically accomplished with methadone, Suboxone or Subutex. This can be effective for some people but is a long-term fix to a problem that has probably lingered on for long enough. People may find they need to be on replacement medications for a while. They may also need a second detox if they become dependent upon the replacements.
