Ultram Abuse

Ultram is a narcotic-like prescription medication used to treat moderate to severe pain. It’s the brand name for Tramadol and is also available in extended-release form. Prescription painkiller abuse has become a common problem that often creeps up accidentally. The Waismann Method of Accelerated Neuro-Regulation doesn’t pass judgment and knows that nearly all of our clients are not to fault for dependency issues. Regular, prolonged use of Ultram can cause a tolerance to build. Once this happens, the body is unable to feel the medication’s effects at prescribed dosages. Escalating use, or resulting to other means of Ultram abuse, becomes problematic at this point. It’s important to know signs to watch for if you feel your use has reached a critical point. Abuse can include any behavior that puts you and your health at risk. This includes using it in any way that goes against product labeling and warnings.

Signs That Ultram Use Has Escalated

The potential for Ultram to lead to tolerance, abuse, addiction, withdrawal and overdose is real. It can depress the central nervous system – an effect that is heightened if Ultram is taken in combination with other substances that may cause this. This includes alcohol, other narcotics, sedative-hypnotics, street drugs and some sleeping medications. Examples of Ultram abuse include taking more than prescribed, taking it more often than what’s recommended, combining it with other substances to increase its effects or tampering with the medication in ways that include chewing, breaking or crushing the pills. Mixing Ultram with other substances to increase the “high” can be dangerous, even fatal. Patients who’ve suffered prior addictions should avoid taking it because the risk for addiction is higher. Other signs of abuse and addiction include a mental preoccupation with obtaining and consuming the drug. Others may falsify prescriptions or shop around for different doctors to secure more than one supply.

Safe, Confidential and Supportive Treatment is Available for Ultram Addiction

The Waismann Method’s humane and non-judgmental treatment for Ultram addiction is safe and proven. For more than a decade, we have been leaders in the field of addiction medicine, treatment and recovery. Our rapid Ultram detox uses a renowned procedure that’s performed in the safety of a hospital while patients sleep lightly under anesthesia. Intravenous medication is used to cleanse opiates from patients’ opiate receptors. This accelerates withdrawal symptoms which occur while the patients are sedated. They awake opiate-free without awareness of withdrawal symptoms that occurred. We don’t use opiate replacements to wean patients and the entire hospital stay is a few days. This makes for a more efficient and timely recovery. Domus Retreat, our transitional living facility, is available for those who wish to continue recovery in a safe and supportive environment. We’re confident we can get you back to the comfort of your life, career and family in much less time than other programs.
