Subutex Withdrawal
Subutex, commonly used to treat opiate addiction, is also an opiate and has the potential to lead to addiction and the need for withdrawal. A qualified medical professional initiates Subutex therapy with a patient who is trying to wean off other opioid painkillers, but it does have the potential to be abused by recreational users. Subutex contains buprenorphine and is used to manage opiate withdrawal from OxyContin , heroin, Percocet, Vicodin and other drugs. Subutex, a sublingual tablet, can lead to a tolerance in individuals who take it regularly, possibly causing misuse and addiction. The body experiences withdrawal when it begins to detox from Subutex. This can lead patients to feel very sick, experiencing symptoms including cravings, tremors and hallucinations. Withdrawal symptoms are individual and can range from mild to severe. For some, it is a very intense and painful experience, one that requires safe, reliable detox. Without medical supervision, complications could arise. These can include seizures, damage to vital organs and death.
Detoxing from Subutex: Commonly Reported Withdrawal Symptoms
Opioid withdrawal includes a host of uncomfortable physical and psychological symptoms that can become quite serious if not addressed properly. Depending on the person and the severity and length of the addiction, withdrawal symptoms can vary widely. They can include a strong drug craving, chills, headaches, sweating, diarrhea, weakness, mood changes, cramps, goose bumps, tremors, runny nose, yawning, sneezing, sleeplessness, anxiousness, loss of appetite, flu-like symptoms, depression, hallucination, delirium, fever, respiratory distress, muscle and bone pain, confusion, extreme irritability and muscle spasms. These symptoms can develop within hours of last use and persist for days or weeks. It is ill advised to try and stop taking Subutex or other opiates “cold turkey.” Medical management of withdrawal increases the odds of prolonged recovery and helps guard against instances of relapse.
Waismann Method Offers Opiate-Free Treatment for Subutex Addiction
We know most of our patients didn’t intend to become dependent upon Subutex. We also know that patients’ busy lives don’t always allow them to spend weeks or months in a drug detox or rehabilitation program. Subutex is a potentially-addicting opioid medication that may lead to withdrawal. The Waismann Method of Accelerated Neuro-Regulation offers rapid drug detox for Subutex and other opiates. What sets us apart from many other detox programs is that our treatment is opiate-free. We don’t use opiate replacements in our program. The Waismann Method utilizes intravenous medications to cleanse opiates from patients’ receptors while they sleep lightly under deep sedation in a hospital. The procedure itself takes less than two hours and patients are able to return to their lives in a matter of days. The total hospital stay is a few days and our transitional living facility, Domus Retreat, is open to all guests who wish to continue recovery. The Waismann Method is known for its safe, humane and confidential approach to opiate detox. The program, along with Domus Retreat, offers medical management for withdrawal and a safe haven where guests are supported and encouraged in their recovery.
