Kadian Abuse
Abusing a powerful narcotic drug can be extremely dangerous but in most cases, patients are not at fault. During the course of pain management therapy with drugs including Kadian, a tolerance can develop. This means the drug’s effects are diminished and pain relief is compromised. Once this happens, patients can become desperate and begin to escalate their use or misuse Kadian in other ways. Kadian addiction can develop swiftly with prolonged use. Abusing opiate drugs can also lead to overdose which can be fatal. If you feel your use of Kadian has increased or you have developed withdrawal symptoms once you try to stop, you owe it to yourself to seek help. Kadian contains morphine sulfate and is an extended-release prescription drug used to treat moderate to severe, around-the-clock pain. Taking more of this drug than what’s recommended can result in dangerous health complications including extreme drowsiness, breathing difficulties, coma or death. Mixing Kadian with other substances to increase the “high” or euphoric feelings can be dangerous to your health.
Red Flags Associated with Kadian Abuse
Being preoccupied with obtaining or consuming Kadian - or engaging in risky behaviors - can also indicate a problem with abuse. Illegal diversion of opioid painkillers has become a national problem in recent years, as has the number of prescriptions being written for these medications. Taking Kadian in any way that’s outside its recommended, prescribed use can constitute abuse. For doctors, pharmacists or other prescribing authorities, red flags for abuse can include patients who go through their prescriptions too quickly and need a refill early. Patient excuses can include lost or stolen prescriptions or the need for an early refill for those who say they will be traveling. “Doctor shopping” can include switching from doctor to doctor to secure more than one supply or visiting numerous health care providers at the same time. Chewing, breaking or crushing the medication can lead to overdose because it causes quick release of the medication.
Highly-Regarded Medical Procedure Rids Patients of Kadian Dependence
Kadian can be taken safely and successfully for chronic pain sufferers but for many, the line separating safe use and dependence is thin. With the Waismann Method of Accelerated Neuro-Regulation, withdrawal is medically managed to maximize safety, comfort and results. Our team of doctors, therapists and addiction and recovery specialists work with anesthesiologists to individualize drug detox programs for patients. Performed in a southern California hospital, our procedure uses intravenous medication to cleanse patients’ opiate receptors. Patients sleep lightly under deep sedation during the procedure and awaken with no conscious awareness of the withdrawal that took place during the procedure. Our highly successful and humane treatment can reverse opiate addiction in a matter of days, getting you back on your feet quicker than other drug detox programs. Our Domus Retreat aftercare facility is also available to our patients who wish to continue recovery in a therapeutic and spa-like atmosphere. Our programs are safe, humanely-administered and completely confidential.
